Yesterday was a pretty crazy day here in Oklahoma. I’ve never quite seen a day where the winds were so high statewide. Some parts of the day looked otherworldly. Add fire to high winds and let’s just say this girl spent a lot of time praying.
This morning in my quiet time I remembered that a friend sent me a message to listen to a couple of days ago that I haven’t gotten around to listening to just yet. I opened the message and the description was just what I had been praying to God about. I love that He does that! Especially when it comes from a friend who lives seemingly far, far away and doesn’t have access to my every day life. I think He loves doing this for all of us as a wink to say “I see you and I’ve laid you on this person’s heart!”
God surrounds us with His unfailing love every single day. Some days it is so obvious. Other days it’s as subtle as just a quick message or hearing a song on the radio. While yesterday was crazy, it had people reaching out to each other, to check on each other. It made me realize that we don’t just have to wait for the storms of life to do that.
I pray over the people God has placed in my life and I pray for you to do the same. I know it’s not possible to daily reach out to everyone we know, and social media lets us believe as long as we post it, the world can know where we are. It is the most empty form of connection, if you could even call it connection.
The Lord has laid this on my heart a lot lately as I step further away from social media. I’m sure I’m going to miss out on things because it was only shared on a platform. That’s okay. We need to get back to being more personal, make the phone call, send the text. Even two words matter.
I feel like this is a ramble, but this is what’s on my heart today. Each one of us was created for connection. God places people in our paths for His purposes. 💜
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard: That went down to the skirts of his garments;”
Psalm 133:1-2 KJV
