Wedded Bliss

Recently I was blessed with the honor of walking my daughter down the aisle at her wedding. It truly was a day filled with love and joy. The most joyous part of the day for this mama heart is how my son in love looked at my daughter. The love and admiration that I saw on his face as she walked towards him hadn’t just been reserved for their wedding day, rather this is how he beholds her every time he sees her. It is incredible to watch how he loves her, and she him.

While I was able to witness this beautiful act of love I got caught up in the thought that this is how God looks at us, His creation. I pictured Abba looking lovingly, with unadulterated tears of joy in His eyes, at us. Right now. Today. Right where we are. He loves us. Unabashedly. Without condition.

Once we accept Christ as our savior and Lord of our lives, God sees us through the lens of Christ in us. We still see the flaws of the old person we were. Still feel the sting of the hurts from the past, but when God looks at us He sees a beautiful bride washed clean of the impurities we held before.

For those of us walking the journey with Christ already it is an incredible adventure traversing through His cleansing love. For those who have yet to meet Jesus this should bring a spark of hope and encouragement that the author of our being is waiting in anticipation for you to accept His hand and love.

This moment, this feeling is something I will carry with me forever, and it will be my hope in days of doubt and the days I feel unworthy of His love.

My prayer is that this encourages all of us believers to share the love of Jesus with someone who needs to know their Creator is waiting, arms stretched open, ready to embrace them.

Isaiah 61:10

“I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For He has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.”
