I said what I said. Today I’m writing light heartedly because I am working on a pretty heavy blog series to bring to you all next week. So, since it’s Friday, and I’ve not written here this week, let’s get to the not everything is meant to be fried.
My family will tell you that I cook for a small army. We are not a small army. Most days there is only three of us at home. Nowhere does that support the amount of spaghetti I can make. This lends to a ton of leftovers which my husband will eat for days without complaint. I do not particularly like leftover spaghetti, so I reimagine the leftovers. One day this week is was add ranch dressing to give moisture and a different flavor. It was meh. He said it was good. We have different tastebuds when it comes to “good”.
That being said, yesterday I found a recipe for fried spaghetti. Several reviewers said that it was a total hit with their families. I figured I’d give it a go. I followed the recipe, and I did all the things and plopped scoops of the mixture into the pan and fried for the recommended time. I always try these new dishes before serving because I want to know what I’m feeding my family tastes like. It was flavorless even though I added extra spices and used flavored olive oil. Back to the drawing board with little time, as the leftover recreation was happening at my husband’s lunch time.
Solution: add sweet and spicy barbecue sauce to the remaining leftovers. Trash the concoction that needed to still be fried because ewwww. By the way, husband and the 14-year-old tried the already fried spaghetti and they said it was good. Which really makes me question why I work so hard in the kitchen to come up with flavorful and knock their socks off dishes to eat. (My friends will tell you this is not the first time a recipe took me astray).
Maybe you’ll find a fried spaghetti recipe that works for you. I will sit in the camp that not everything is meant to be fried. As for the heavy series that’s to come, I am going to be exploring and sharing about the love of Jesus. What does it mean to love like Jesus? What can we who follow Jesus do better to share His love and the absolute truth Jesus is. I’ve been quiet this week because I’ve been mulling these and other questions over, and my heart is burdened to be a truth teller.
Happy Friday friends! I pray that you know that you are surrounded by the love of God, and if you do not know that I pray that God sends someone to show you His love today!
